LOCAL EXHIBITIONS AND GALLERIES
Since the world premiere of THE RAMA EXHIBITION at the IUCN World Conservation Congress, Calley is honored to have been invited to hang the original RAMA paintings at  Mokupāpapa Discovery Center.

MDC was established to interpret the natural science, culture and history of the Northwestern Islands and
surrounding marine environment.

FEATURING THE INTERSPECIES ARTWORK OF
CALLEY O’NEILL AND RAMA THE ELEPHANT

Since most people will never have the opportunity to visit these remote islands, our facility on the bayfront in Hilo, Hawaiʻi serves to "bring the place to the people" and spur greater public awareness of the region and ocean conservation issues.
Award winning Executive Chef/Owner David Abrahams and internationally acclaimed conservation artist, Calley O’Neill have teamed up to create a multi-cultural experience of fine dining in The Red Water Café Gallery.

The chef and our local Waimea artist are happy to invite you to enjoy fine foods in a fascinating gallery. Long after other galleries have closed…ours is taking off!

Please take the time to look closely at the wildlife paintings (called thangka paintings) because… Calley’s painting partner was…. an elephant! This isn’t just amazing because RAMA was an elephant…these are the most powerful and beautiful abstracts the artist has ever seen. The focus is Endangered Hawaiian Biodiversity, so come and feel the presence of the treasure trove of Hawai’i’s natural world.

Having studied hula kahiko, Hawaiian herbal medicine, Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), and Hawaiian horticulture, Calley’s cultural works are steeped in her love of and dedication to the native Hawaiian people, wisdom, culture, and values. You can feel the culture as soon as you become silent and let them speak to you.
