Fare Thee Well Beloved
from The Rama Exhibition
Almost all of the remaining Amur Tigers live in the Southeast corner of Russia in the mountains east of the Amur River.  Their population is estimated at approximately 250 mature individuals, with a declining trend.  There is no sub-population containing more than 50 mature individuals.  Only 20 percent of the Amur tiger population lives in protected areas.  The primary threats to its survival are poaching and habitat loss from intensive logging and development.
